The 1999 Copa America and 2002 World Cup winner with Brazil; two times FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005; two league titles and the 2006 Champions League with Barcelona; the 2010-11 Serie A title with AC Milan; played for clubs including Gremio, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, guess who? He is none but the soccer legend himself, Ronaldinho Gaúcho!
Just when we thought Ronaldinho was already living the dream, he signs up for Jean-Claude Van Damme film, ‘Kickboxer: Retaliation’ (expected to be released in 2017) to do a kickboxing. The Brazilian soccer legend will appear alongside fellow athletes UFC star Paige VanZant and Mike Tyson in the movie.
His character will be named “Ronaldo,” a martial arts expert who specializes in kicking. He is tasked with teaching the main character “Moussi”, to fight for his life in Thailand.
Ronaldinho also brings with him 60 million social media followers from all parts of the globe.
“These numbers are an invaluable element that a lot of traditional movie stars can’t offer when we market the film,” said producer Rob Hickman.
The movie is a sequel to the original Kickboxer, which was released in 1989.
